Scrubber service station to open at Portland Port

Intermarine UK signed a new agreement with a Chinese manufacturer to establish at the Port of Portland one of UK’s centers for scrubber installation. The deal was signed during Nor-Shipping 2019, with Shandong Pure Ocean Technology.

According to the deal, Intermarine will be an agent to Shandong and will offer to install its scrubbers to several ships to assist them comply with upcoming environmental regulations.

New eco-tanker design eyes rotor sail with VOC compounds and LNG

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received an approval in principle (AiP) for a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) ‘eco-tanker’ design, capable of using a combination of volatile organic compounds (VOC) mixed with LNG as fuel and Norsepower’s rotor sail solution for wind-assisted propulsion.

First phase of remote machinery operation testing project completed

DNV GL, automation systems vendor Høglund, ferry operator Fjord1, and the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) have finalized the first testing phase of the ROMAS (Remote Operation of Machinery and Automation Systems) project. The parties presented the results for the first time at the Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo.
