NWSA, Puyallup Tribe forge partnership for new terminal construction

Puyallup Tribe and the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the region’s shipping capacity.

The agreement paves the way for the construction of a new berth on the East Blair Waterway, increasing the Seattle/Tacoma gateway’s ability to accommodate the world’s largest shipping lines and boosting economic activity in the region.

NWSA handles over 3.3 million TEUs in 2024

The North West Seaport Alliance (NWSA), a partnership between the ports of Tacoma and Seattle, reported total container volumes of 304,748 TEUs in December, representing a 16% increase from the same month in 2023.

NWSA noted that it achieved a significant 20% growth in total international container volumes in the last month of the year.

NWSA handles over 270,000 TEUs in October

Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reported its international container volumes increased by 1.7% in October compared to the same month last year.

Full international imports grew significantly, rising 6.9%—marking the eighth consecutive month of growth. However, full international exports dropped sharply by 13.4%. Total container volume, including both international and domestic, reached 273,355 TEUs, translating to a slight decline of 0.5% compared to October 2023.

Container traffic increases at NWSA terminals

North West Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reported increased vessel activity and intermodal volume, combined with diverted cargo, resulting in robust box traffic at the US gateway.

Full international imports in August reached their highest level for the month since 2010, with a 49.4% rise compared to August 2023. NWSA launches Puget Sound’s zero-emission truck collaborative

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), a marine freight cooperation between the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, has announced the launch of the Puget Sound Zero-Emissions Truck Collaborative.

Container traffic at North West Seaport Alliance plunges in January

Total container volume at the North West Seaport Alliance (NWSA), a marine cargo operating partnership of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, decreased by 21.7% in January, compared with the same month last year, falling to 213,095 TEUs.
