NWSA marks sluggish start in 2020

The Northwest Seaport Alliance, a marine cargo operating partnership of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, sees its total container volume for January 2020 was 263,816TEU, a 19.1% decrease from January 2019.

NWSA container volumes dip in 2019

The Northwest Seaport Alliance’s total container volumes for 2019 reached 3,775,303 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a 0.6% dip from 2018, according to a NWSA’s release. These results come from imports’ decrease of 4.9%, while exports grew 1.7%.

In December, NWSA handled a total of 284,452 TEUs, a 18.5% decrease from an unusually high December 2018 as shippers moved cargo ahead of tariffs. International imports were down 25.7%, while exports were down 15.3% for the month.

NWSA ranks highest on West Coast in Quest for Quality awards

NWSA handles record international box volumes

The Northwest Seaport Alliance reached a historic milestone in July, handling a record 1,818,221 international twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) year to date, a 6.2% increase from the prior year. This surpasses the previous record set in 2005 of 1,801,175 TEUs.

NWSA aims to improve gateway efficiency

The Northwest Seaport Alliance is launching a Gate Efficiency Program to expand gate hours at international container terminals during peak season this year and next.
