Fjord1 and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have signed a contract for the operation of the national road ferry connection E39 Lavik-Oppedal.

Fjord1 gets green light for autonomous ferry route

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) today officially notified ferry operator Fjord1 that it has been selected to develop and operate a next-generation autonomous ferry for the Lavik-Oppedal crossing in Norway.

Fjord1 managing director Dagfinn Neteland says the decision puts the company “in the driver’s seat in the development of autonomous ferries.”
