Former President Jimmy Carter, key deregulator of freight transportation, dies at 100

Former President Jimmy Carter died Sunday at the age of 100. 

Carter was born in 1924 in Plains, Georgia, the son of a nurse and a local businessman. He served as a Naval officer for seven years before returning to Georgia and taking over his family’s farm. He soon entered local politics. He was the governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975 and served as president from 1977 to 1981.

Judy Love, co-founder of Love’s Travel Stops, dies at 87

Judy Love, the co-founder of Love’s Travel Stops, died on Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 87.

Love founded the travel stop alongside her husband, Tom, in 1964 with a $5,000 loan. Together, they grew the company into an empire of more than 640 locations across 42 states. Love is also remembered for her philanthropic spirit, including support of education, health care and community development.
