OCI Global, a producer and distributor of hydrogen-based products, has secured its first green methanol bunkering permit in Egypt’s East Port Said and West Port Said.

Following a competitive bidding procedure, OCI Global, a producer of ammonia and methanol, announced a deal to offtake green hydrogen from New Fortress Energy Inc.’s (NFE) ZeroParks commencing in 2025.
The agreement will allow OCI Global to increase its green ammonia production capacity in Beaumont, Texas, to about 160,000 tons per year.
The deal follows New Fortress Energy’s announcement of a 100-megawatt (MW) electrolyzer system order from Electric Hydrogen Co. (EH2).

OCI Global announced plans to double its green methanol production capacity to approximately 400,000 metric tons per year, due to the growing demand for green methanol from numerous high emissions industries, including road transport, shipping and industrial.
The scale-up plans include entering into supply agreements for renewable natural gas (RNG) exceeding 15,000 mmbtu per day – as well as securing the waste and development rights from the City of Beaumont.
