Freightliner SuperTruck II looks for technology life after research

LAS VEGAS — For the $20 million it spent on the Freightliner Cascadia SuperTruck II program, Daimler Truck North America expects some of the advanced technology to find its way into production.

Daimler built excess electric truck capacity in ‘22

LAS VEGAS — Daimler Truck North America created capacity to build 2,000 Class 8 battery-electric trucks last year. But sales fell far short because of a lack of charging infrastructure.

NHTSA fines Volvo Group $130M for slow reporting of recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has fined Volvo Group North America up to $130 million in civil penalties for slow reporting of safety recalls, sloppy record keeping and insufficient employee training in handling product defects.

The penalty is among the largest levied under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. NHTSA fined Daimler Truck North America $30 million for similar offenses in December 2020.
