Australia signs border treaty with Timor-Leste for Greater Sunrise offshore project

As Reuters reports, Australia issued a legislation that clears maritime boundaries with East Timor, enabling both countries to divide revenue from the offshore Greater Sunrise natural gas field.

Specifically, the Australian Parliament highlights that the bill amends 25 Acts to

  1. permanently delimit the continental shelf boundary and the exclusive economic zone boundary between Australia and Timor-Leste;

Equinor makes light oil discovery in Barents Sea

Equinor and partners OMV and Petoro announced that they have made an oil discovery in the Sputnik exploration well in the Barents Sea. Recoverable resources are preliminarily estimated at 20-65 million barrels of oil.

The Sputnik well was drilled in licence PL855, around 30 kilometres North East of the Wisting discovery. The well encountered a 15 metre oil column in a Triassic sandstone reservoir. Fluid samples contain light oil and water.

Norwegian offshore workers struck a pay deal, strike averted

Under the possibility of strike that could affect operations of the Norwegian oil production, the strike has been averted as the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association and the Norwegian Organisation of Managers and Executives (Lederne) have struck a pay deal.

As the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association reported, the company reached to an agreement with the workers.

Petronas produces first LNG after relocation

PETRONAS announced that PETRONAS Floating LNG Satu (PFLNG Satu) at the Kebabangan cluster field, conducted its first LNG drop by its floating LNG facility. The facility is located 910 kilometres offshore Sabah.

Operated by Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company (KPOC), Kebabangan field is the second location for PFLNG Satu after its operation in Kanowit field, Sarawak.

The introduction of the PFLNG Satu was achieved on May 4, 2019, through a 5-km flexible pipeline.

FERC greenlights Freeport LNG expansion

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) gave the green light for the expansion of Freeport LNG project. The latter will build and operate its fourth natural gas liquefaction train, located at its LNG export facility on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas.

Eni announces discovery in Akoma project, offshore Ghana

Enni announced on Thursday, May 9, a gas and condensate discovery in CTP-Block 4, offshore Ghana. The well on the Akoma exploration project had an estimated volume between 550 and 650 bfc of gas and 18-20 mmbbl of condensate.

The company notes that additional drilling will be needed for gas and oil to be confirmed.
