Singapore conducts exercise to test oil spill readiness

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) conducted a multi-agency Joint Oil Spill Exercise (JOSE) to test and demonstrate Singapore’s readiness to respond to oil spills at sea. More than 250 personnel from 26 agencies participated in JOSE 2018.

During the exercise, agencies discussed operational and policy measures to deal with a major oil spill in Singapore waters, and a seaward deployment exercise scenario near Raffles reserved anchorage.

Diesel spill reported off Key West, US

The US Coast Guard and partner agencies are responding to a diesel fuel spill that happened approximately 7 miles northwest of Key West, on Tuesday, October 2.

Maritime NZ unveils Oil Spill Response Strategy 2018-2022

Maritime New Zealand issued the latest update to its Marine Oil Spill Readiness and Response Strategy, which sets out the overarching framework for how Maritime NZ and partners will respond to a marine oil spill incident.

Under the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime NZ is required to regularly update the Strategy, last revised in 2018. The New Zealand Marine Oil Spill Response Strategy 2018-2022, is the fifth revision since it was first established in 1992.
