Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday dropped a 25% surcharge it had planned to place on electricity sold to the U.S., in response to an announcement by President Donald Trump that he would impose a 50% rather than 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, The Associated Press reported. A trucking company has been fined for failing to promptly clean up a fuel spill after a 2019 accident in northern Canada.

Authorities in Ontario said carrier Jagger Canada Inc. was recently convicted by the provincial court of three charges under the Environmental Protection Act and was fined $30,000, along with a $7,500 victim fine surcharge.

Canadian trucking company set to build $250M facility near Toronto

Canada-based carrier Highlight Motor Group (HMG) recently broke ground on a 100-acre development in the Toronto area that will serve as the company’s new headquarters and trucking operations hub.

The $250 million facility will total 1.1 million square feet and include a 350,000-square-foot logistics warehouse, as well as a truck yard and repair shop. It will be in Bradford, Ontario, about 43 miles north of Toronto.
