/ INTERTWIST / Kira Phoenix K’inan Solo Exhibition at the Hellenic Centre

by our man in Habana…

This evening I had the pleasure to see the solo exhibition, INTERTWIST, by glass artist Kira Phoenix K’inan. I had previously seen a selection of her work at different events she has taken part in, including FUSION IV in February and her XenoCell series held at The Lumen Gallery in January. However, to be able to stand in a room surrounded by her work gives us a glimpse into her creative mind, which is...

44 Artworks at 44 Hallam Street

What a wonderful evening at 44 Hallam Street. There was an array of artwork on display from the abstract paintings of Hamish MacAulay, to the colourful Summer of ’17 wall sculpture by Kas Williams to our very own Kira Phoenix K’inan. Kira is exhibiting three large works on paper, a change from her glass work, inspired by her time in Stockholm, Sweden, whilst she was Artist in Resident at Konstfack University.

To see Kira’s work...

Van Gogh and Britain: a star-studded spectacular at Tate Britain

Van Gogh and Britain: a star-studded spectacular at Tate Britain

By James Brewer

Behind Vincent van Gogh’s expression in luxuriant brushstrokes of the unflinching energy he identified in nature is a large helping of the creativity he drew from his experience of British life and literature. His eager curiosity and insights into society were heightened by two years spent in London and southeast England. That was a foundation for his ardent style, triumphantly conveying the temperament of the common...

London Glass Blowing asked CGS to invite its members to apply to this imaginative show INSPIRED.

Vietnamese Art: between Asia and the Western World

by Maray Georgousis, Dr. Art Historian*

Modern Vietnamese art inherits rich elements from a culturally diversified past. Starting with the world-known bronze drums and impressive artilleries of the Au Lac kingdom three centuries ago, it descends through the ages to the works of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Indochina painters, created in the capital city of Hanoi in 1925. Thus, Vietnamese cultural...

The BDI@610: enter the abyss?

John Faraclas

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) was down 19 points mainly due to another asymmetrical fall of the Capes. Geopolitics maintain its momentum and we warn for dangers ahead; John Faraclas daily recap:

The Capes’ BCI was a bit upsetting at 846 – minus 83 points as the 900 points-threshold has fallen!

An eight points plus brought the Panamaxes’ BPI at 561!

A point down for the Supras’ BSI now at 414…

The Handies’ BHSI lost four points and now reads 290 points.

The Wets were down; the last...
