ONE, LX Pantos in Boxlinks venture for US domestic intermodal

Liner operator Ocean Network Express (ONE) and South Korean forwarder LX Pantos announced a joint venture, Boxlinks, a new player offering end-to-end U.S. domestic intermodal transportation services. 

The joint venture will manage ONE’s inland-to-coastal domestic transport needs through a Domestic Reposition Program (DRP). 

“By leveraging empty containers for intermodal operations, Boxlinks aims to create new revenue streams while improving operational efficiency,” LX Pantos said in a release....

HMM making change at helm

HMM announced Monday that it had tapped Kyung-bae Kim, former chief of Hyundai Glovis, as its next CEO.

The South Korean ocean carrier’s board is expected to approve Kim’s nomination at the shareholders meeting on March 29.

The selection of a former CEO of Hyundai Glovis as HMM’s new CEO has sparked speculation in South Korean media that either Glovis or its parent, Hyundai Motors, could acquire the country’s flagship liner operator.

New multimodal service connects South Korea with Poland

The Russian intermodal container operator PJSC TransContainer has joined forces with Pantos Logistics and the Polish company PKP LHS, to provide a regular multimodal service linking South Korea with Poland via the Russian Far East and Ukraine.

The three partners offer an end-to-end logistics solution. TransContainer of Delo Group provides its containers along the whole route and arranges railway transportation from the Russian Far East to the border with Poland.

Maersk to double frequency of sea-rail AE19 service for capacity-hit shippers

Maersk is to double the frequency of its AE19 rail-sea service between South Korea and Northern Europe, as shippers and forwarders on the trade continue to struggle to secure ocean and air freight capacity.
