PepsiCo to add 50 Tesla electric semi-trucks to California fleet

PepsiCo Beverages North America (NASDAQ: PEP) announced this week that it plans to add 50 Tesla electric semi-trucks to its California fleet as part of the company’s mission to reach net-zero emissions by 2040.

The snack and beverage company plans to rollout the trucks throughout the next several months, according to an announcement. The trucks will operate out of the company’s manufacturing and distribution facility in Fresno.

Tesla delivers fleet of Semi trucks to Pepsi facility in California

Tesla this week delivered a fleet of Semi trucks to PepsiCo in California as the automaker slowly ramps up production orders of its long-delayed all-electric Class 8 vehicle to customers.

It’s unclear exactly how many trucks Tesla delivered in California on Tuesday. According to media reports, PepsiCo will use 21 Semi trucks at a Sacramento bottling plant for local deliveries, while another 15 will be used by PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay manufacturing plant in Modesto.

GXO Logistics to close 2 Texas facilities, lay off 262 workers

Connecticut-based GXO Logistics (NYSE: GXO) is laying off 262 employees from two warehouse operations in the Dallas area, according to recent notices sent to Texas officials.

The 262 employees will be terminated by Dec. 10. The logistics provider said the layoffs were needed because client Pepsi decided to end its operations at the two warehouses.

The layoffs include 56 workers from a facility in Dallas and 206 from a logistics warehouse in nearby Lancaster.
