Mexican farmer protest disrupts trade at Texas bridge

Tractors and trucks blocked access to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge on Wednesday as hundreds of Mexican farmers vented their frustration over government cuts in subsidy prices of sorghum.

The protest started around noon as rural farmers from the Mexican state of Tamaulipas blocked access to the customs station on the Mexican side of the bridge.

US-Mexico truck crossings saw major decline across Texas in May

For the second straight month, international truck crossings dropped dramatically at ports across Texas.

The World Trade and Colombia Solidarity bridges in Laredo, Texas, saw 68,473 fewer commercial truck crossings from Mexico in May compared with May 2019, according to the city of Laredo.

New cargo inspection program to cut wait times at Texas border port

A new cargo inspection program aims to cut border crossing wait times at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in Pharr, Texas.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers are now working at the Pharr Land Port of Entry alongside their Mexican counterparts to jointly inspect thousands of trucks loaded with non-agricultural imports.
