Americans love shopping, and as a result, 59 million parcels were generated each day in 2021, according to research from Pitney Bowes.

The global shipping and mailing company on Monday released its Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index, finding that U.S. parcel volume grew 6% in 2021 over 2020, reaching 21.5 billion parcels shipped. That works out to 683 parcels per second.

Passport raises $39M to help end ‘nightmare’ of international shipping

Parcel logistics company Passport announced it has raised $39 million in series B funding led by Technology Crossover Ventures with participation from Flexport, FJ Labs and Pure Imagination to continue supporting e-commerce brands’ international shipping needs.

Global shipping and mailing company Pitney Bowes has announced it will apply a 5.9% general rate increase for e-commerce services, effective Jan. 2, 2022.

Pitney Bowes announces peak-season delivery surcharges

E-commerce and postal provider Pitney Bowes Inc. said it will impose peak-season parcel delivery surcharges of $1.50 per piece on all domestic shipments, effective Oct. 3.

In addition, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company will levy weight-based surcharges on all shipments requiring expedited deliveries, which is a time-definite guarantee of three days or less. Interest in parcel lockers grows for online shopping-addicted Americans

Nearly 14% of Americans reported being victims of a package theft in the past 12 months, according to a December survey from Finder. That equals 35.5 million Americans and an average package theft value of $156.82.

A new survey released Tuesday morning on package theft and security solutions from Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) found that 30% of Americans are willing to pay more to have their package delivered to a package locker, and 53% remain concerned about packages being stolen from their doorstep.
