Ship design specialist Longitude Engineering has launched a new series of platform supply vessel (PSV) designs. Named the IMT-Isca, they mark the next generation of the company’s IMT 984 G-Class.

“PSV newbuilding has been very limited since 2015, resulting in a shortage of suitable tonnage to support growing offshore energy plans,” says Duncan Grigg, product lead for maritime design at Longitude. “Inspired by our proven IMT PSV designs, IMT-Isca is the next-step evolution, reflecting the...

Harvey Gulf orders Wärtsilä energy storage for retrofitted PSVs

In October, Wärtsilä signed an agreement to supply its advanced Energy Storage System (ESS) to be retrofitted on four of Harvey Gulf International Marine’s LNG-fueled platform supply vessels (PSVs). A fifth vessel in the Harvey Energy-class was earlier fitted with a Wärtsilä ESS.

The four vessels, the Harvey Power, Harvey Liberty, Harvey Freedom, and Harvey America, will each be fitted with a Wärtsilä ESS comprising a closed bus-tie 1,360-Kw drive with 746 kWh 1100 VDC batteries. The retrofit...

A hybrid retrofit, featuring an energy storage solution from the technology group Wärtsilä, will be installed on the Harvey Energy, a  310’x64′ platform supply vessel (PSV) owned by New Orleans-based Harvey Gulf International Marine.

It will be the first LNG fueled — and the first hybrid retrofit — PSV in the Americas, the companies said. Wärtsilä announced the contract in April. The 5,312-dwt vessel is currently powered by three Wärtsilä 6L34DF dual-fuel gensets providing 7,530 kW (10,100 hp)...
