Port of Bellingham gets $17.9M grant to reconnect the shipping terminal to rail

Ports get $48.4 million piece of $1.8 billion RAISE grants pie

Port projects are to receive $48.4 million of $1.8 billion of grants awarded June 28 under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program. As in years past, the demand for RAISE funding outpaced available funds, with the DOT receiving almost $13 billion in requests for the $1.8 billion available this year.

MARAD springs a surprise in marine highway grant awards

Service contract between the Port of Bellingham and Ports America

International cargo vessels are expected to arrive at the Bellingham Shipping Terminal on a regular basis as the result of a new service contract between the Port of Bellingham and Ports America.

Ports America entered negotiations with the port after several of its shipping customers requested use of the Bellingham Shipping Terminal. Ports America is the largest terminal operator and stevedore in the United States.
