In 2024, the Port of Helsinki continued to serve shipping companies, passengers, and cargo operators while maintaining and investing in port infrastructure.

Vuosaari Harbour unveils onshore power system to reduce air pollution

The first onshore power supply connection at Vuosaari Harbour in Finland is now operational. This system is utilized by the Finnlines vessels Finnmaid, Finnstar and Finnlady, managing cargo and passenger traffic between Helsinki and Travemünde.

Political strikes disrupt Helsinki port’s container traffic

Political strikes have halted container traffic at the Port of Helsinki for around four weeks this spring, leading industrial operators and traders to rely more on lorries for transporting goods.

X-Press Feeders signs green corridor deal with six European ports

X-Press Feeders, the world’s largest independent common carrier, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with six European ports: Port of Antwerp Bruges (Belgium), Port of Tallinn (Estonia), Port of Helsinki (Finland), Port of HaminaKotka (Finland), Freeport of Riga (Latvia) and Klaipeda Port (Lithuania).

Port of Helsinki sees cargo volume decline

From January until September, overall cargo traffic at the Port of Helsinki reached 10.4 million tonnes. Additionally, 4.7 million tonnes (-13.4%) were imported, while 5.4 million tonnes (-8.8%) were exported from the Finnish port.
