Port of Helsinki handled 40,788 TEU in July 2022, marking an increase of 4,4% compared with the same month last year.

The Port of Helsinki has reported a decrease of 7.4% year-on-year in container traffic during March, by moving a total of 44,788 TEU.

Total loaded containers at the Finnish port reached 33,788 TEU in March, representing a 6.3% drop compared with the same month of 2021, while total empty boxes handled at the port registered a reduction of 10.4% year-on-year, totalling 11,001 TEU.

The Port of Helsinki has recorded a year-on-year decrease of 8.3% in container volumes during 2021, handling 467,000 TEU.

The Port of Helsinki has recorded high levels of cargo traffic, during the first nine months of the year, mainly driven by exports, with containers being the only sector marking a slight decrease.

STS crane partially collapsed in the Helsinki port

Representatives from the port of Helsinki and Konecranes have confirmed that there has been a partial collapse of a ship to shore (STS) crane within the Vuosaari harbour in the Finland capital’s port.

The incident in Helsinki occurred earlier in July, when a crane by the Finnish manufacturer, Konecranes, has tilted during operation.
