Taiwanese prosecutors have charged nine persons who allegedly tried to smuggle 2,000 boxes of duty unpaid cigarettes through Kaohsiung port.

Dramatic rescue in Taiwan after container truck nearly goes off highway

A container truck departing Kaohsiung port was left half hanging in mid-air after the driver lost control and hit the guardrail of a highway in the city.

Wan Hai to spend US$155 million to upgrade Kaohsiung terminal

Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines will spend TW$4 billion (US$155 million) on refurbishing three piers of Kaohsiung Port’s Terminal No. 5, which it has taken over from compatriot Evergreen Marine Corporation.

Ports of Kaohsiung and Busan ink sister port deal

The ports of Kaohsiung and Busan signed a sister port agreement in a ceremony on 29 August at the headquarters of the Busan Port Authority (BPA) in South Korea.

A Wan Hai Lines container vessel has been detained in Kaohsiung, Taiwan after it knocked into some revetment along one of the berths on 10 July, causing some damage to the facility.

Boxship hits pier in Taiwan’s port with drunk pilot on board

The 6,763 TEU container ship Hyundai Tokyo hit pier 77 of the port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan on Monday (20 March), causing damage to the quayside of the port.

Odour permeates Kaohsiung after container collapse

A container containing hydrochloric acid collapsed at Kaohsiung Port’s Pier 79 at 3 am (local time) today (17 May), sending bursts of smoke into the air and causing a stench to permeate the area.
