The Port of Koper achieved a new monthly record in March by handling 99,533 TEU, surpassing the previous record high of 97,101 TEU set in March 2021.

Volta Shipping Services links Port of Koper with Far East

The Dubai-based carrier Volta Shipping Services has launched the MED service, connecting Koper with five Far East ports and a stopover in the Libyan port of Misurata.

Three vessels with a capacity from 1,200 to 2,700 TEU have been deployed for the liner service, launched in January.

The MED service has the following port rotation:

Port of Koper expands container yard capacity

The Port of Koper in Slovenia has started the extension of the container yard capacity on Pier No. 1, which is projected to be completed by the middle of the year.

Port of Koper handles record box volumes in 2021

The Port of Koper in Slovenia has closed 2021 with an annual container throughput record, by handling 997,477 TEU, which also translates to an increase of 6% over the previous year.

Port of Koper strengthens its container handling capabilities

The container quayside at the southern end of Pier I in the Port of Koper has been extended by 100 metres.

The extended quayside with a new berth, which is named Link 7D, is part of a large investment as the Port of Koper continues to build a container storage area of almost 25,000m² in the quayside’s hinterland.

Slovenian government plans new truck gate for Koper port

The Slovenian government will invest €4.4 million (US$5.4 million) to construct a new gate for trucks at the port of Koper, which will be the third entrance to the port.

Port of Koper orders super post-panamax cranes

The operator of the Port of Koper, Luka Koper has signed a contract for the supply of two shore-to-ship cranes which will be installed in the new, extended part of the port’s container terminal.

The consignation and installation of the new machines are anticipated in the fourth quarter of the next year. Additionally, the technical characteristics of the cranes are practically identical to the last two cranes which were installed in April 2017.

Port of Koper selects Camco to automate its operations

Port of Koper has chosen the Belgium-based automation company Camco Technologies for the automated registration of its increasing container and rail wagon traffic. Camco will be responsible for the design, installation and support of its rail optical character recognition (OCR) portal technology.

Koper kicks off Pier I extension works

Port Koper has launched the main construction works for the extension of the southern part of Pier I, which is a “key infrastructural project for the container segment,” according to Luka Koper.
