The Port of Los Angeles kicked off 2025 by handling 924,245 TEUs in January, marking the busiest start in its 117-year history and reflecting an 8% increase compared to the same month last year.

During the first month of the year, loaded imports reached 483,831 TEUs, representing a 9.5% rise from the previous year. However, loaded exports declined by 10.5%, totalling 113,271 TEUs. The Californian port also processed 327,143 empty boxes, a 14% increase over January 2024.

Port of Los Angeles releases draft environmental report for waterfront amphitheater

The Port of Los Angeles has released a Draft Subsequent Environmental Impact Report (Draft SEIR) to update the 2009 San Pedro Waterfront EIS/EIR for the West Harbor Modification Project.

The project proposal includes constructing a roughly 6,200-seat amphitheatre covering 9,300 square meters on 37,230 square meters of Port property leased to West Harbor.

Port of Los Angeles secures US$412 million US EPA grant

The Port of Los Angeles (POLA) has received a historic US$412 million grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Ports Program to advance its zero-emission (ZE) transition.

Long Beach terminals reopen after battery fire accident

Port of Long Beach (POLB) reported that Ocean Boulevard and the Vincent Thomas Bridge have fully reopened to traffic with the removal of the truck and load involved in a battery fire accident at the intersection of Ocean and Navy Way.

The site has been decontaminated, according to the statement with the Los Angeles Fire Department having moved and contained the load at another location in the Port of Los Angeles.
