Container volumes increase at major Japanese ports

According to preliminary data from Japan’s transport ministry, the country’s six major ports processed 1.17 million TEUs in July, representing a 3.3% growth from the previous year.

This marks four consecutive months of year-on-year increase. Total exports accounted for 571,534 TEUs, up 3.3%, while imports reached 594,158 TEUs, up 3.2%.

Ports of Antwerp-Zeebrugge and Nagoya ink cooperation deal

The Belgian Port of Antwerp-Zeebrugge and Japan’s Port of Nagoya signed a renewed cooperation agreement to further expand their trade relations and deepen their collaboration.

Port of Nagoya sees a slight drop in container sector

Containerised shipments at the Port of Nagoya, Japan, fell in 2019 as a result of the decline in the automotive, garments and footwear industries.

According to the port exports fell 3.2% to 24.04 million tonnes, caused by declines in auto parts and components and other commodities; while imports shrank 2.6% to 24.05 million tonnes owing to falls in garments, personal belongings and footwear among other products. Box throughput at Nagoya grows in 2018

The Port of Nagoya processed a total of 196.52 million TEUs of containers in 2018 on a preliminary basis, up 0.3% year on year, just barely exceeding its 2017 throughput. As for oceangoing cargo, exports swelled 2% to 53.71 million tons thanks to increases in completed automobiles and industrial machinery.
