Construction Kicks Off at New Ngqura Liquid Bulk Terminal

Oiltanking Grindrod Calulo (Pty) Ltd (OTGC) and Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) today turned the first sod at the site of the Port of Ngqura’s future liquid bulk tank farm. This comes ahead of the planned decommissioning and rehabilitation of the existing liquid bulk facilities at the neighboring Port of Port Elizabeth, which will pave the way for Ngqura’s establishment as a new petroleum trading hub for Southern Africa.

Progress With New Liquid Bulk Facility at the Port of Ngqura

TNPA has already completed Phase 1 of the infrastructure required to service the site. It includes the construction of a new access road from the N2 to the location where Oil Tanking Grindrod Calulo Holdings (OTGC), the private terminal operator, will build the new Tank Farm. TNPA also completed the detailed design of the new Port Entrance Plaza and the new main access road, including the pipe line servitude that will form the link between the new Tank Farm and the port.

Genco Brittany - Cement Carrier Vessel Moored at Port of Ngqura

The young developing Port of Ngqura celebrated a milestone in its growth with the arrival of the first vessel discharging cargo for Osho Cement, a new cement manufacturer currently under construction in the Coega Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
