Container volume at China ports rose by 4.8% in the January-August period, compared to the same months last year.

The container throughput of Chinese ports was 203.7 million TEUs, while for the same period, the cargo volume of major Chinese ports was 11.1 billion tons, translating to an 8.4% rise year-on-year.

Major box ports in China close to 150 million TEUs during 2023 H1

In the first six months of the year, the overall container volume of major Chinese ports rose 4.8% compared with the same period in 2022, reaching approximately 150 million TEUs.

At the same time, the overall cargo volume of the Chinese ports was around 8.1 billion tonnes in the first half of 2023, translating to a decrease of 8% year-on-year.

Ningbo Zhoushan hits 1 million TEU milestone in the first 10 days of the year

The Ningbo Zhoushan Port has already surpassed 1 million TEUs from the beginning of the year. The major Chinese container hub handled 1.05 million TEUs from 1 to 10 January, translating to a 10.75% year-on-year increase.

Berthing, trucking delays continue at Ningbo

Freight forwarders and liner operators are advising of trucking delays as Ningbo-Zhoushan port continues to operate under closed-loop management, with shippers urged to divert cargoes to Shanghai.

Closed-loop management returns to Ningbo-Zhoushan amid new Covid-19 outbreak

Ningbo closing in on Singapore as world’s second largest container port

Singapore is now facing the possibility of being overtaken by China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan port as the world’s second-busiest container port, 12 years after losing its crown as the world’s busiest box port to Shanghai.

Ningbo on “yellow alert” after new Covid-19 outbreak, Shanghai lockdown continues
