An Internet of Logistics could make it easier to share supply chain data

Container ports should spearhead an “Internet of Logistics” to tackle inefficiencies in global container supply chains.

Rotterdam port’s security enhanced with 227 cameras

Tuesday, 16 October – The Port of Rotterdam Authority (PoR) signed a contract with Securitas Technology BV for the installation of 227 cameras in the port and industrial area. The contract is a logical consequence of the ‘Camera surveillance for the Port of Rotterdam’ agreement that was signed on 13 June by Customs, the Police, Deltalinqs, the Municipality of Rotterdam and PoR for the installation of a joint camera infrastructure. The first 25 cameras will be installed on Maasvlakte 2 this year.

Study: ‘Just-in-time’ concept saves thousands of CO2 tonnes

If sea-going vessels were better informed about the availability of berths and adapted their speed accordingly, substantial savings could be made in terms of fuel and CO2 emissions, according to a study commissioned by the Port of Rotterdam Authority and research institute TNO.

If sea-going vessels are regularly kept informed –particularly during the last twelve hours before arrival– about exactly when their berth will become available, they will be able to adapt their sailing speed accordingly.

Port of Rotterdam to create new space for polymer storage

The Port of Rotterdam Authority and Rotterdam Polymer Hub (RPH) signed an allocation agreement regarding a site for two halls for the storage and distribution of polymers. The project is a joint initiative of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Euro-Rhine Group and entrepreneur Geert Van De Ven.
