Port of Thessaloniki acquires majority stake in another Greek port

The Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA), which manages the second largest port in Greece, has announced the acquisition of 67% of Volos Port Authority, the managing company of another greek port.

The transaction price was €51 million (US$53.6 million).

Ports of Gdansk and Thessaloniki partner to develop transport corridor

Greek port enhances box handling capabilities with new cranes

The Port of Thessaloniki in Greece has received two new specially designed New Panamax ship to shore (STS) cranes with a lifting capacity of 65 tons and 50 tons in twin-lift mode and in single-lift mode, respectively.

Port of Thessaloniki announces increases in both revenues and volumes

The Port of Thessaloniki has completed a total revenue of US$84.9 million in 2021, representing an increase of 7.2% over 2020, which was mainly driven by the increased volumes both of container and conventional cargo.

During the same period, the Greek port’s gross profit surpassed US$40 million, which translates to a growth of 9% year-on-year, while net profit after taxes registered a 5% increase, reaching US$23.3 million.

Port of Thessaloniki proceeds with Pier 6 expansion project

The Greek port of Thessaloniki will increase its container handling capabilities through the €150 million (US$168 million) project “Expansion of the Marine Works Infrastructure of Pier 6”, which has been awarded to a joint venture of the companies Mytilineos SA, Rover Maritime SL and HDK SA.

The project is expected to upgrade the second-largest container hub in Greece by providing the ability to directly serve Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) with a capacity of up to 24,000 TEU.
