Belgium aims to meet e-commerce boom with customs Be-Gate platform

Belgium’s logistics community has launched a new platform aimed at speeding up the growth of its e-commerce market.

Be-Gate was launched by a collective, including Brussels and Liege airports, the ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge and the country’s customs authority, at Air Cargo Europe in Munich last week.

Fluxys LNG reports high interest for Zeebrugge LNG terminal

Belgium-based Fluxys LNG announced the subscription window for LNG services at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal, held from 30 April to 24 May, has seen a positive outcome. Fluxys LNG will now submit the required regulatory documents to Belgian federal energy regulator CREG.

Unloading slots and additional storage services were on offer at the Zeebrugge LNG Terminal over subsequent periods up to 2044, the company said.

CMA CGM MOZART marks the start of kiwifruit season in Zeebrugge

Container carrier MOZART, deployed in the Panama Direct service of CMA CGM, delivered 270 containers with kiwifruit in the port of Zeebrugge on Monday 20 May. This marks the start of the new kiwifruit season in Zeebrugge, which will result in the delivery of about 1.2 billion pieces of kiwifruit to the port of Zeebrugge for the European markets.

In total, 13 vessels are to provide the weekly calls on PAD-route. CMA CGM is deploying 6 extra vessels. One loop takes about 90 days.

Port of Zeebrugge achieves new record

With the maiden call of ms OOCL United Kingdom at Cosco Shipping Ports Terminal Zeebrugge early in the morning of May 18, a new record was set in the port of Zeebrugge.

The 21,413 Teu vessel is the largest container carrier in the world, deployed in the Far East/Europe services of the Ocean Alliance.

Cosco launches move to make Zeebrugge its North European hub

Cosco has begun to realise its ambitions to turn the Belgian port of Zeebrugge into its major North European hub, according to new analysis from Alphaliner.
