A second late-season snowstorm shut down interstate travel over the weekend in parts of the Dakotas, repeating a similar situation from 10 days ago.

According to transportation officials, Interstate 94 was shut down Saturday afternoon from Bismarck, North Dakota, to Glendive, Montana, and remained closed for about 24 hours. That’s a stretch of nearly 300 miles.

7 people injured in Arkansas tornado

At least seven people were injured, two critically, when a tornado tore through Springdale, Arkansas, early Wednesday. It happened shortly after 4 a.m. CT, according to the National Weather Service.

Major winter storm now spreading across Northeast

A powerful winter storm that began Tuesday night produced freezing rain and heavy snow the past two days from the Southwest to the Great Lakes.

Thick ice weighed down tree limbs and power lines, especially in parts of the mid-Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley. As of 8 a.m. Friday, more than 350,000 customers had no electricity in eight states, from Texas to New York. Storm blamed for barge crashing into Virginia transmission tower

Dominion Energy is currently evaluating a transmission tower in southeastern Virginia that was struck by a barge during a Monday morning rainstorm, according to a report from WTKR in Norfolk.

The Chesapeake Fire Department said the tower is on the Elizabeth River, just north of the High Rise Bridge on Interstate 64. This is just south of Norfolk. The fire department got the call about the accident at 9:36 a.m. Monday.

I-80 remains closed during eastern California blizzard
