First of six LNG-fueled box ships completes trials

The first in a series of six LNG-fueled neo-Panamax containerships has successfully completed sea and LNG gas trials in Korea. The ships are being built for Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping at the HSHI (Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries) shipyard and are each powered by an MAN B&W 11G90ME-GI main engine. The engines are the first to feature MAN Energy Solutions’s Pump Vaporizer Unit (PVU).

CMA CGM has already chartered the first vessel, named Tenere, from Eastern Pacific.
