IRS to expand operations

Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), the fast-growing international classification society, has announced it is to further expand its operations into the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. The organisation plans to open new offices in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Lebanon and Nigeria over the coming months.

FUGRO supports Qatargas’ LNG operations with inspection services contract CONTRACT

Fugro is providing Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) with underwater inspection, geotechnical and geophysical services for its offshore operations in Qatar under a new 5-year call off contract.

Utilising its purpose-built survey vessel Fugro Proteus, Fugro will undertake geophysical and environmental services and ROV (remotely operated vehicle) inspection of Qatargas’ subsea assets. The geotechnical soil investigation studies will be carried out from dedicated vessel Fugro Adventurer.

Qatar Petroleum to supply China with LPG for five years

Qatar Petroleum announced that it signed a sale and purchase agreement to directly supply China with 600,000 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) per year for five years.

Namely, Qatar Petroleum and Oriental Energy signed the agreement, which will start from January 2019.

According to Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, President & CEO of Qatar Petroleum, this deal aims to improve Qatar Petroleum’s energy relationship with China, which is now the world’s largest growing LPG market.

Hamad Port acquires 28% share in Middle East trade

DOHA: Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti said (Oct./09/2018) that Hamad Port has acquired 28 percent share in the volume of trade in the Middle East.

The share of Hamad Port in the volume of trade in Qatar in terms of exports and imports has reached 95 percent, which makes the port an important port of the economy and contributes effectively to people’s daily lives.
