ACCC to monitor effect of Qube’s acquisition of Newcastle Agri Terminal

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has decided it will not pursue enforcement action in relation to Qube’s (ASX:QUB) completed acquisition of Newcastle Agri Terminal (NAT) at this time.

However, the ACCC remains concerned with potential impacts on the supply chain for bulk grain export through the Port of Newcastle, and will continue to monitor developments in the industry.

Lumsden Point, WA, now receiving vessels

Break bulk and heavy lift ship, the BBC Pearl (IMO 9504786) was the first vessel to sail into Lumsden Point, a new facility located in Port Hedland and built to support the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project.

The 2012-built BBC Pearl has 12,838 gross tons, a length overall of 153 metres and a beam of 23 metres.

Port of Melbourne and Qube to fight box congestion

The Port of Melbourne and the Australian logistics provider Qube have secured a short-term agreement which makes available an empty container park (ECP) with capacity for up to 9,000TEU.

Qube adds stake in rail operator to Patrick

Logistics giant Qube has added a stake in Intermodal Group, Fremantle Port’s container to rail operator, to its half-share in Fremantle container terminal operator Patrick.

WestBusiness understands Qube has taken a significant but minority interest in Intermodal, which had been wholly owned by US firm Watco.

Intermodal manages the North Quay Rail Terminal that transfers containers on to rail and then to the Forrestfield rail yard.

QUBE takes the honours at SAL NSW Golf Day

The annual SAL NSW Golf day, held at the Coast Golf club on Wednesday 28th February was a great success.  With perfect weather and a good attendance, there was some excellent play and players were rewarded with spectacular views of the coast and ocean.
