Port of NY & NJ ends 2019 with record numbers

Port of New York and New Jersey, following a successful 2018, where it crossed 7 million TEU (20-foot equivalent units) mark for the first time, in 2019 broke that record to end the year with a total of 7,471,131 TEU (4,238,107 lifts), a 4.1 percent increase. April cargo volume surges at the Port NY & NJ

Add April to the list of months in 2019 that posted record-breaking cargo growth at the Port of New York and New Jersey. In April, total volume at the Port rose by nearly 10 percent, accounting for 605,263 TEUs (344,862 lifts) in April 2019 compared to 551,117 TEUs (316,675 lifts) in April of 2018. The gains bring the total volume for January through April to 2,398,108 TEUs, a 7.5 percent increase over the same period of 2018.

Rail volumes remain strong at Port of NY & NJ

Total volume of Port of New York and New Jersey for November 2018 was 583,880 TEUs (331,242 lifts) versus 566,519 TEUs (323,290 lifts) in November 2017, a 3.1% increase. Bringing Port’s YTD total to 6,570,398 TEUs. Import loads (TEUs) were up by 5.9% in November 2018 vs. November 2017, though export loads (TEUs) decreased 10.4% in November 2018 vs. November 2017. Export empties increased 9.3% totaling 164,584 TEUs in November 2018 versus 150,536 TEUs in November 2017.
