In unarguably one of the most important moves in its history, FedEx Corp. said Wednesday it will combine three of its operating units, including its two largest, into one business known as Federal Express Corp.

UPS, Teamsters expected to ink deal no later than June 30

A leading parcel industry consultant said Tuesday that he expects a contract agreement between UPS Inc. and the Teamsters union to be reached no later than June 30.

The comments from Satish Jindel, president of Ship Matrix Inc., are the first from any consultant to go as far as forecasting a time frame for averting what could be a potentially devastating walkout by 350,000 UPS-employed Teamsters. Jindel has also gone on record as saying there is no chance there will be a strike.

FedEx launches 50-day humanitarian initiative to mark 50th anniversary of flight

FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) said Monday it has launched a 50-day humanitarian initiative that will culminate on April 17, the 50th anniversary of the company’s first day of flight and ground operations.

The program, which FedEx coined 50 Days of Caring, calls on company employees to give back to their communities through service projects across the globe. The company said it will hold events and share stories that honor employees and customers.

FedEx to shave daily flights to align costs with lower demand

FedEx Corp. will cut daily flights across the Atlantic, the Pacific and between Asia and Europe as it begins the process of aligning its cost structure with what the company has said is declining worldwide demand.

FedEx launches long-awaited operational integration

FedEx Corp. said Wednesday it has launched a long-awaited strategy to integrate all of its operations, a move that signals the end of the operationally siloed business model that was the hallmark of FedEx’s first 50 years.

Breaking: Fred Smith named FedEx executive chairman

FedEx Corp. said late Monday that Frederick W. Smith, the company’s founder, chairman and CEO, will become executive chairman, effective June 1. Raj Subramaniam, FedEx’s president and chief operating officer, will become CEO on that date.

The COO position will not be filled once Subramaniam relinquishes it on June 1, the company said.
