FMC grants temporary tariff publication relief to CMA CGM

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) voted on Tuesday to grant the temporary relief from certain service contract and tariff filing requirements requested by French ocean container carrier CMA CGM.

CMA CGM seeks tariff publication relief from FMC post-cyberattack

French ocean container carrier CMA CGM has “urgently” petitioned the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to temporarily exempt it from meeting certain tariff publication and service contract filing requirements while it continues to clean up its systems from a recent cyberattack.

The carrier asked the FMC to use its authority under the Shipping Act to institute the exemption for a period of 60 days, starting on Sept. 27, when it was struck by the ransomware attack.

Ransomware attack hits Canadian trucking company Manitoulin

A hacking group posted data stolen from Manitoulin Transport, one of Canada’s largest trucking companies, on Friday in the latest in a string of ransomware attacks targeting firms in the country’s supply chain.

The Ontario-based carrier became aware of the attack on July 31, when some of its personnel reported systems access issues, Manitoulin Transport President Jeff King told FreightWaves.

“Our IT group jumped all over it very quickly,” King said. “No mission-critical systems were compromised.”

Files purportedly stolen from TFI International’s Canpar Express leaked onto the dark web on Monday after a ransomware attack targeted the Canadian trucking and logistics company’s parcel and courier subsidiaries last week. 

The leak, consisting of three documents, appears to have come from DoppelPaymer. The hacking group has taken credit for ransomware attacks on high-profile targets including the city of Knoxville and a NASA IT contractor.

A ransomware attack hit TFI International’s (NYSE:TFII) four Canadian courier divisions on Thursday, two days after the transportation and logistics company raised millions of dollars in a share offering.
