MSC implements PSS from Med & Adriatic to American destinations

Due to strong demand on routes from the West Mediterranean and Adriatic to Canada, the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas, MSC will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS).

Effective from 1 April 2025 until further notice, the surcharge will be set at US$500 for 20-foot containers and US$700 for 40-foot containers, applicable to all container types.

Swiss/Italian ocean carrier MSC has announced new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from the Belgian port of Antwerp to the United States and Canada.

The following rates will be applicable from 2 April until further notice, but no later than 30 April.

Hapag-Lloyd announces rate adjustments for Med shipments

Hapag-Lloyd announced the following upcoming adjustments to ocean freight rates and surcharges for shipments from the Mediterranean to various destinations.

The first one is a rate increase from the West Mediterranean to Latin America. Effective for sailings from 1 April 2025, Hapag-Lloyd’s FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates from Italian ports to South America West Coast, Central America, and the Caribbean will increase as follows:

Hapag-Lloyd increases rates from Indian Sub & Middle East to USEC

Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new General Rate Increase (GRI) / General Rate Adjustment (GRA) from the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to the United States East Coast.

French box line CMA CGM is implementing a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from Portugal to North Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic region.

Effective from 3 March and until further notice, the surcharge will apply to both dry and reefer containers. The PSS rates are set at US$105 per 20′ container and US$209 per 40’/45′ container.

CMA CGM applies port congestion surcharge in Gabon

In light of the current situation in Libreville, Gabon, French ocean carrier CMA CGM has informed its customers about the introduction of a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS).

This surcharge will take effect from 15 February, with an implementation date of 15 March for shipments from North America, Latin America, Australia, and Canada.

German box carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from Mexico Gulf ports to Central America and the Caribbean.

The GRI has been set at US$300 per container and will be applicable to all dry and reefer boxes from 1 April until further notice.

Mexico Gulf includes Altamira and Veracruz hubs, while Central America and the Caribbean include the ports of Puerto Barrios, Puerto Cortes, Caucedo (including destinations via this port) and San Juan.
