Tesla issues recall for Semi truck over roll-away risk

Automaker Tesla has ordered a voluntary recall of 35 of its all-electric Class 8 Semi trucks due to a parking brake issue.

It’s the first recall for the Semi, which is produced at the company’s factory in Sparks, Nevada. Tesla began deliveries of the Semi in December, shipping an initial batch of trucks to Pepsi and Frito-Lay.

Navistar recalls more than 31,000 trucks for suspect fasteners

Navistar Inc. is recalling more than 31,000 trucks and buses across its lineup because improper heat treating on hex flange lock nuts could lead to the fasteners breaking, resulting in unstable steering and the increased possibility of a crash.

The truck maker owned by Germany’s Traton Group, said it was unaware of any field failures, crashes or injuries related to the condition. The recalled vehicles have nonconforming hex flange lock nuts. Similar vehicles have conforming parts.

Cummins recalls faulty engine control modules from 28 manufacturers

Cummins Inc. is recalling 12,196 engines across its product line because a faulty engine control module (ECM) can lead to stalling and increase the risk of a crash.

Paccar Inc. is the latest to report the issue, recalling 1,601 model year 2023 vehicles across 21 Kenworth and Peterbilt product lines.

Western Star trucks recalled 2nd time for falling hood trim pieces

Daimler Truck North America is recalling about 4,000 Western Star trucks because shiny parts keep detaching and falling off the hood. The resulting roadway debris could cause a crash.

The latest recall resembles one in April that inadvertently revealed the 57X on-highway truck months before the official debut in August. DTNA reported no crashes or injuries from either recall.
