Tractor-trailers and cars stuck on side of snowy highway.

After back-to-back winter storms this week, dozens of people in the South have died in car accidents or from carbon monoxide poisoning.

After 6 days of freezing temps in #Austin, it's official: longest cold snap in the city's history (since 1897) w/what looks to be 144 hours in total (ended around 4pm today.) #Waco, now at 187 hours & counting, shattered the record. #DFW at 120 hour mark so far. #TXwx #ATX pic.twitter.com/wOXIMcmvIO
