Seaspan’s Vancouver Drydock in North Vancouver, B.C., has successfully completed the Vessel Life Extension (VLE) of the Canadian Coast Guard’s CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier. After undocking at the end of April 2024, the vessel completed an in-water work period in preparation for ship commissioning and sea trials.

Gladding-Hearn redelivers Bermuda ferry following major refit

The Government of Bermuda’s Marine and Port Services has taken delivery of the 700-passenger ferry Bermudian after a major refit at Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding. Engineering and project management were jointly handled by the Somerset, Mass. shipyard and Propulsion Data Services, with class oversight by Lloyd’s Register.

Refit gives Boston Pilots’ launch a new 20-year lease on life

Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, has delivered the first of two Boston Pilots‘ Chesapeake-class pilot boats that have been undergoing a comprehensive refit, at its Somerset, Mass, shipyard.

“The vessels are well used and well maintained. Only minor structural repairs were necessary so definitely worthy of refitting,” said Peter Duclos, the shipyard’s co-president.
