HMM follows MSC and CMA CGM, turning to pre-owned boxships

High charter costs have made HMM join two giant ocean carriers MSC and CMA CGM in buying elderly secondhand feeder ships.

HMM’s spokesperson told Container News that the company is currently in discussions to buy three 2005-built feeder ships. These are MPC Container Ships’ 2,500 TEU AS Paola and Regional Container Lines’ 2,400 TEU Wanda Bhum and Xutra Bhum.

RCL records profit on lower volumes

Regional Container Lines has announced that it made a profit of THB485 million (US$15.34 million) for the nine months-ended 30 September, improving from a net loss of THB324 million (US$10.6 million) in the same period in 2019.

CU Lines joins South Korea-Vietnam route shake up

China United Line (CU Lines), is launching a service between South Korea and South East Asia for the first time after purchasing slots on the Hai Phong Express (HPX) service operated by South Korean carriers HMM and CK Line.
