Croatia’s Rijeka Gateway to be fully powered by renewable electricity

Rijeka Gateway, a major logistics project in Croatia, has secured electricity from renewable energy sources for the container terminal operation.

This is expected to reduce CO2 and other harmful gas emissions significantly. The terminal in Rijeka, which is a joint venture between APM Terminals and ENNA Group, will be the most advanced in the Adriatic region, with most of its equipment electrified and largely remotely operated. When the Rijeka Gateway becomes fully operational in 2025, it will mark a significant milestone in APM Terminals’ endeavours to transition to electric-powered container handling.

Rijeka Gateway becomes Adriatic’s first box terminal with remote-controlled cranes

Rijeka Gateway, the largest private infrastructure project in Croatia over the last decade, will be the Adriatic region’s first port to use remote-controlled cranes and electric cargo handling equipment administered from a central control centre.

APM Terminals and ENNA to built new container terminal in Croatia

APM Terminals (APMT) and Energia Naturalis (ENNA) Group have signed a 50-year concession agreement to jointly develop and operate a new box terminal in Rijeka, Croatia.
