Port of Langnas to have rope-free mooring system

Trelleborg will provide to the Port of Langnas an automated rope-free mooring system, ‘AutoMoor’. The system uses smart technologies to enable a faster berthing process and improve safety levels within the port environment. The port has international cruise ferry and domestic ro-ro ferry berths and is situated in the Baltic Sea, on the archipelago of Aland which has ferry traffic between Sweden and Finland via Aland.

Ports of Stockholm finish 2018 with stable freight volumes

Swedish Ports of Stockholm finished 2018 with a record reaching with stable freight volumes and a record number of cruise passengers. According to the Ports’ 2018 summary, a new revenue record of SEK 866 million (USD 94.9 million) was reached, meaning SEK 10 million more than the record set in 2017.

Specifically, overall 9.6 million tonnes of freight was transmitted through the Ports of Stockholm in 2018, equal to 2017’s amount of freight.

Stena Line voyages first next-gen ferry in China

Stena Line, a Swedish ferry company, launched its first next generation RoPax vessel at the Avic Weihai Shipyard in China. The first new vessel, to be named Stena Estrid, sailed for the first time on January 16. The vessel is to start service on the Dublin to Holyhead route in early 2020.

World’s two biggest short-sea ro-ro vessels are LNG-ready

Port of Dunkirk increases overall throughput despite pre-Brexit uncertainty

According to Port of Dunkirk officials, 2018’s overall throughput was increased by 3% year-on-year from 50.2 million tonnes to 51.6 million tonnes. In the meantime, officials predict that 2019 will be a ‘good year’, as stated in a press conference that took place at Lille, on December 10.
