Rwanda launches $35-mln dry port

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame on Monday officially inaugurated a dry port Kigali Logistics Platform, Rwanda’s largest inland cargo handling facility, in the capital city of Kigali, as the landlocked country bids to become a regional logistics hub.

The platform also hosts a 2,500-square meter bonded warehouse of Rwanda Digital Trading Hub of Alibaba Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) Yiwu Global Innovation Center.

Rwanda wants to finance SGR linking Tanzania

Rwanda is looking for 1.3 billion U.S. dollars to fund the construction of the proposed Isaka-Kigali standard gauge railway that links Rwanda and Tanzania, a senior Rwandan official said Tuesday, May 22.

The figure is higher than 1.2 billion dollars revealed during the launch of the 400 km railway line on January 20, 2018 in Dar es Salaam, commercial capital of Tanzania.
