Ryder System Inc. (NYSE: R) took delivery of two Workhorse Group (NASDAQ: WKHS)  electric delivery vans, seemingly ahead of a large order from United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS).

Workhorse announced the deal with Ryder on Tuesday. On Monday, Workhorse got the go-ahead from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to sell its C-Series zero-emission vans. Under California’s Advanced Clean Truck regulation, all trucks in the state must run on electricity by 2045.

Fuel cell startup Nikola nears public trading debut

Nikola Corp., the startup maker of Class 8 trucks electrically powered by batteries and fuels, expects its shares to trade under its own name on the NASDAQ later this week following a vote to merge with the “blank check company” that raised hundreds of millions of dollars for its public launch.

VectoIQ (NASDAQ: VTIQ) and Nikola shareholders scheduled what is expected to be a drama-free execution of the merger Tuesday morning. VectoIQ shares would begin trading under the ticker NKLA on Thursday.

Workhorse Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WKHS) hopes to borrow money to scale production of its composite-body electric trucks even as growing interest in its patented truck-based Horsefly  drone could accelerate its business plan.

The Cincinnati-based last-mile delivery company said Wednesday it conducted 54 Horsefly test missions with United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) and the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology in late April.
