Samskip to apply additional low water charges

Samskip’s Germany corridor is still impacted by the extreme drop in water levels along the Rhine river following the persistent heat and drought in Central Europe.

The low Rhine water levels have been reducing the load capacity of company’s barges on the Duisburg-Nijmegen-Rotterdam service for the past months and since October the water levels have reduced further compared to August and September. Currently there is no information about when the water levels will recover to normal.

Samskip to apply Winter Surcharge in Russia

Due to seasonal increase in the local tariffs and the special weather and ice conditions prevailing in the St. Petersburg area during winter time Samskip will implement a winter surcharge.

For the winter 2018/2019 the surcharge for all shipments will be:
Euro 90,- per TEU laden and empty

Applicable for all containers shipped to and from St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga and Bronka as from sailing date 01.12.2018 until the end of the winter period which probably will be end April 2019.

Samskip targets intra-Europe shortsea traffic with new Italy-Netherlands rail service

Icelandic shipping line and multimodal operator Samskip has launched a direct rail service between the Italian rail freight hub of Melzo and Amsterdam.
The aim is to build on the Dutch port’s new strategy of targeting shortsea intra-Europe volumes.
The thrice-weekly service will see the 750-metre trains arrive at Amsterdam’s TMA Logistics’ Holland Cargo Terminal (HCT), after a 240-hour trip, to link up with Samksip’s shortsea vessel departures to Hull.

Samskip launches new rail service

Officially launched on October 17, the connection sees trains depart from Melzo east of Milan three times a week, to be ready for unloading along 750m intermodal rail tracks inside TMA Logistics’ Holland Cargo Terminal (HCT), Amsterdam 24 hours later. Samskip upgrades Nor Lines service network

The overhaul, effective from October 1st, 2018, will meet rising demand for reefer and project cargo services southbound and increase capacity for conventional and project cargoes northbound along the Norwegian coast and beyond to Murmansk. Two existing multi-purpose service loops increase to three.

Port of Hull expands its network

ABP’s Port of Hull continues to boom as it welcomes yet another new container service. The latest service will connect Hull with Antwerp, Belgium’s largest port.

Global logistics company, Samskip, has opened up the twice-weekly route which will officially arrive at the Port of Hull for the first time on 14 October, with a vessel holding over 500 twenty-foot containers. Over the year, around 15,000 extra containers are expected to be handled at the Hull Container Terminal.
