VIDEO: Navier to launch pilot Bay Area e-boat shuttle service

Foiling electric boats are getting a lot of attention worldwide as the zero-emission, high speed, water transit solution of the future. Delivery sweetening the pot for recreational cannabis businesses

Recreational cannabis delivery same-day on-demand direct-to-consumer

Americans can have just about anything delivered to their front doors, whether it’s a pizza or a bag of groceries or a shiny new SUV. But it has long been taboo – under the law, at least – to deliver recreational cannabis. People have been getting their weed delivered through a massive black market for years, but outside of the safe haven of California, marijuana users can’t legally order a bag of pot to be dropped off at their homes.

Maritime History Notes

Additionally, more than 200 smaller ships — steam schooners affectionately called the Scandinavian Navy — transported lumber from the Pacific Northwest to San Francisco and Southern California.

An interesting feature of this trade was that many of the ships were owned by lumber companies that sought to...

The first U.S. passenger ferry with Tier 4 emissions controls went into service with the San Francisco Bay Ferry system in March. The 445-passenger high speed Pyxis (pronounced “pik-sis”) is the fifth new ferry built for the fleet since the Hydrus-class started in 2017, and serves the growing Vallejo route.

“They operate on a longer route than the Hydrus boats. We’re a one-hour trip,” said Martin Robbins, general manager of the Bay Ferry’s Vallejo division. “These are waterjet boats so they’re...
