The Norwegian bulk carrier “Kryssholm” will soon be able to take on new assignments thanks to a customized upgrade by the SCHOTTEL Modernization and Conversion Team, reports the Motorship.

Schottel supplies propulsion system for new editorial ship

Germany’s first editorial ship — The Pioneer One — is equipped with a Schottel propulsion unit. Built by the Lux-Werft shipyard in Niederkassel, the vessel was recently handed over to Berlin-based media company Media Pioneer. As a “floating editorial hub”, it will provide a workplace for around 30 journalists.

Navy launches first of new tug-class at Dakota Creek

The Navy’s first yard tug (YT) 808-class vessel was launched at Dakota Creek IndustriesSaturday.

The YT 808 tugs are based on the Navy’s existing YT 802 Valiant-class tugs and built to commercial ABS standards. The 90’x38’ tugs will have a top speed of approximately 11.7 knots and a bollard pull of approximately 40 metric tons allowing them to effectively perform towing and ship-handling duties for the full range of Navy surface warships, barges and submarines.

Sefine shipyard in Turkey has recently delivered “Aqua Skilsøy”, the third of a total of six live fish carriers (LFC), to DESS Aquaculture Shipping AS in Grimstad, Norway. Each of the Salt Ship design vessels is equipped with propulsion solutions from SCHOTTEL, comprising rudderpropellers and transverse thrusters which both feature the patented LEACON sealing system. All six live fish carriers, each with a live fish hold capacity of 3,900 m³, will be assigned to long-term contracts for Mowi ASA.
