Chinese and French companies feel the wind in their sails

A team of French companies has allied with major Chinese naval architecture company SDARI, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Company (CSSC), and have designed a low-carbon feedership using wind energy to supplement main engine power.

The 2,500TEU Trade Wings design, developed by France’s yacht designer VPLP, consultancy Alwena, and Oceanwings, sail designer Ayro along with SDARI received its Approval in Principle from classification society Bureau Veritas.

DNV Provides AiP To GTT & SDARI For A New Design Of LNG Fuelled Bulk Carrier

GTT and the ship designer SDARI1 have received Approval in Principle (AiP) from the classification society DNV for a new technical solution applied to LNG fueled Bulk Carriers (Newcastlemax type2) fitted with GTT membrane tank, says a press release published by GTT.

Zhejiang Seaport orders more feeder vessels

Zhejiang Seaport Shipping Company has added to its string of newbuilding orders, with an order of four 1,000TEU feeder ships from the Singapore-listed Chinese ship builder Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.

The US$54.9 million order was confirmed on 29 May 2020, just two months after Zhejiang Seaport Group ordered four 1,868TEU ships for an aggregate price of US$102 million from Yangfan Group, another Chinese ship builder.
