Maersk announces Golden Week blank sailings

In connection with the upcoming Golden Week period, Maersk has endeavoured to balance its network to match reduced demand.

Effective week 40, Maersk Line will temporarily suspend the AE2 service until mid-November and will resume in line with demand pickup. “To ensure our customers will not face any business disruption, all port calls on the AE2 service will be covered on other services in our network,” Maersk says in its announcement.

APL to enhance Falcon Express

APL announces an enhancement of Falcon Express (FCX) to broaden its westbound coverage to Asia through the addition of a direct call from Ensenada to Yokohoma. With this enhancement, FCX offers competitive transit time from West Coast South America and Mexico to Japan – taking just 13 days from Ensenada to Yokohama. FCX will also facilitate shipments of frozen fish and seafood from Chile and Mexico to Japan.

Yang Ming hails success of new Liverpool service

A new express feeder service to Liverpool has smashed its initial targets almost immediately after launching in June, underlining demand for a direct Far East call at the port, according to Peel Ports.

APL launches Philippines Taiwan Express

APL announces the launch of Philippines Taiwan Express (PTX), a direct service connecting Manila (North/South) to Kaohsiung, a transshipment hub to other destinations such as Japan and Vietnam. PTX also allows shipments from Manila to connect to long haul services via Kaohsiung.

MSC unveils Golden Week blank sailing programme

Due to the anticipated slowdown in demand during and after the Golden Week holiday, MSC plans to exclude sailings during this period, followed by a temporary structural adjustment to its East-West network.

“The change will help us to match capacity with the expected weaker market demand for shipping services,” the shipping giant says in its announcement.
