OSC orders three more VLCCs

Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has signed an agreement with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) to build three Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) as part of its ongoing fleet renewal strategy. Once operational, OSC predicts that the three VLCC newbuilds will increase company oil shipping revenues by around 10 %. Long-term contracts with international oil majors are already in place for all of the new ships.

Drydocks World starts building tractor tug

Dubai’s Drydocks World shipyard recently held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of production of a new 27m tractor tug. The LR-classed vessel, to be operated by P&O Reyser in the Port of Barcelona, will be the first tug in the Mediterranean to comply with IMO Tier III, MARPOL Annex VI, regulations when it enters service in mid-2020.

Oman joint venture completes first drydock project

Oman Drydock signs Gurdesan deal

Oman Drydock Company (ODC) has signed an agreement with Gurdesan of Turkey for the latter to establish a specialised workshop within the Duqm shipyard. The new facility will carry out repair and maintenance work on deck machinery as well as propulsion and steering systems, windlasses, cranes and rescue boat and life raft davits. Grandweld delivers KOC crew boats

Dubai’s Grandweld Shipyards is finalising the delivery of four new crew boats to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). This was part of a contract originally signed in 2016, and which also included a total of six pilot boats.
